Umbrella Rock is an unusual rock formation on Lookout Mountain. The postcard is from the collection I have from the Ziegler side of my family.
The view off the Mountain is breath taking, it is a much different view now than the time of this postcard.
While going through the pictures of the Newby family which I recently received, I found this picture of Umbrella Rock. I would not be brave enough to climb this rock to have my picture made! On Umbrella Rock in this picture are my Great Great Aunt Mattie Newby Burdick and husband Ed Burdick and my Great Uncle Ed Newby (my Grandmother's brother).

I've never seen this feature before you posted your photo and postcard here. When we visited there, the view was nothing like that, we looked down over Chattanooga! During that trip we rode the incline train, and went to the National Cemetery in Chattanooga. I'm going to look up the location of this formation.
This formation is at Point Park, I think. The view now is of Chattanooga. It is pretty neat to see now much the area has changed.
I've seen pictures of people standing on the rocks but didn't know until a few weeks ago there was a picture of some of my family on the rocks. It is closed now so people can't climb on the rocks.
This is new to me. I'll have to google it...lol Thanks for sharing this postcard and the view
