Well the kids were off for spring break last week and my husband was also off on vacation. We didn't go on vacation just stayed around the house and did some things that needed to be done.
We did take one day trip up to Lenoir City, Tn we go up once or twice a year. The main reason for going is to go to our favorite pizza place, the Gondolier. They have the BEST pizza. We go for lunch when they have a lunch special $4.95 for a personal pizza and a salad. The salad could be a meal! The pizza is really good! If you are in Lenoir City, Tn I would recommend the Gondolier.
On our way back home we stopped in McMinn Co. at the Short Creek Cemetery where my husband's grandparents are buried. Ralph Samuel Kibble was born June 10,1910 and died
June 4,1962. Mae Green Kibble was born May 7, 1905 and died July 10,1986.
These are the parents of my husband's mother. My husband doesn't remember his grandfather since he was not even 2 years old at the time he died.
Mae Green Kibble's mother and father William and Mary Elizabeth Green are also buried at Short Creek Cemetery. Just realized I didn't get a pictures of their marker with the digital camera so I'll have to post that picture later.
We found the marker for William Green's grandparents William Howard and Jane Henderson Howard.
There are no dates on William Howard's marker, age 82.
Jane Henderson Howard died June 4, 1903 and was 70 years old. We don't know much about them in fact until a couple of years ago we didn't know there were Howard's in the family. They are my husband's Great Great Great Grandparents! I did find some information on the family on Rootsweb. Jane was full-blooded Cherokee Indian and William Howard was 1/2 Cherokee Indian and 1/2 Black Dutch.
We were really excited to get pictures of the graves for the Howard's, this is the first time we have been to Short Creek Cemetery since we found out their names.
