Dogwood Winter?

I always heard of Dogwood winter and I guess this is what we are having now. My Dogwood trees are blooming now and it has turned cold. Maybe a chance of snow. Here's a picture of one of my Dogwood trees.

I have never heard of a dogwood winter, but I do know that when the trees and bulbs are blooming beautifully here in Virginia, we always seem to get unseasonable heat followed by a pounding downpour.

Amen to that!!!! We had snow all day yesterday (no accumulations)--but this morning, we have about 1/2 an inch on the ground. I don't know about you, Harriet, but I'm ready for Spring to get here and STAY... ha

Hugs,
Betsy

Thanks for the comments! The weather man was wrong again for us. We only got to 37 this morning so no damage!I'm so ready for Spring. We also have a thing they call Blackberry winter to look forward to. When the Blackberries bloom it always turns cold again.
The old sayings are funny! My kids thought I had lost my mind until they heard the weather man on TV say Dogwood winter. And they thought I made it up!
