Wordless Wednesday - Edwin Newby

Edwin Newby was my grandmother’s youngest brother; he was born in 1909 and died in 1988.

I have several photos which are very old, such as this one, that have been glued to the black paper used in old photo albums. Is it best to leave them on the black paper or try to remove as much as possible of the black paper without damage to the photo?

Good question Harriet...I'd like to know too. I have 3 or 4 albums that are on this same type of paper and pics are glued in...so frustrating. I've been scanning entire pages at a time - but need to do each page twice as the pages are too large.

You are lucky Harriet to have the names on the pictures. I have lots of my mothers old pictures -with NO names on them... So frustrating to find out who is who...

SO--you knew Edwin???? Since he died in 1988, I'll bet you did know him.

Hugs,
Betsy

Mary I hope someone will help us.
Betsy I do feel lucky to have the pictures of my family and it is wonderful when there are names on them. Yes, I do remember Uncle Ed he lived in Louisville, Ky. He came down to visit my grandmother many times. I remember 3 of my grandmother's brothers, the other one lived in Dayton,Oh and I guess his health was bad and he didn't come down that I can remember! My Mom said I was a baby when they last came. I can also remember her two sisters, I'm very lucky!

My grandmother glued her photos into albums with black paper pages. I can't tell you how many I tore trying to get them out before scanners. I love the bike!
